Abstract

This research aimed at knowing the significant effect of using memorizing technique to improve students’ speaking ability in the seventh grade of MTs Dorussholihin NW Kalijaga in the school year 2017-2018. This research applied Preexperimental method. The present researcher took one class as the sample, in which were 28 of VII A students as the experimental class. A pre-test and post-test were given to the 28 students. For technique of analyzing data, the present researcher used SPSS 22 for Windows. Based on the result of data analysis, the mean score of pre-test was 22.04 and post-test was 24.14. It means that there was significant different in the mean scores between pre-test and post-test. In testing hypothesis, the present researcher found that the value of significant level was much lower than 05. It means that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. It is able to conclude that using memorizing was significantly effective in teaching speaking ability of the seventh grade students of MTs Darussholihin NW Kalijga in the school year 2017- 2018.
