Abstract

This study aims to find and analyze the parenting model of the Sasak Tribe in Lombok with Sasak language as an instrument of parenting. The study uses ethnographic methods with domain stages, which give birth to the agenda and context of parenting and taxonomy that gave birth to the original meaning of sasak language in the process of parenting. Data is collected by domain stage, taxonomy, cultural themes, and parenting motives in four social contexts of parenting. Through ethnographic stages, the results of the study showed that taxonomically, Sukus Sasak parenting is known as 'nurturing', which occurs in four social contexts, namely regulation, instruction, imagination-innovation and interpersonal. For all four contexts, the parenting process occurs in six life cycles of foster children, namely waking up, bathing, playing, eating, rituals, and sleeping again. In each cycle, the entire parenting process is instrumented through sasak taxonomy. The ultimate goal of the parenting process is intended as character formation or petekap, which is pinned through jejalek or jejuluk. Dealing with certain characteristics is an accumulation of socioemosional, physical, moral, and cognitive growth and development of foster children. Keywords: parenting, sasak tribe, taxonoc, ethnoparenting
