Abstract

Speaking skills influence by many factors such as personality types and how confidence someone in communication. This study research the case of personality extrovert and introvert also self-confidence in speaking. The aim of this study investigates the correlation among personality types, self-confidence and speaking proficiency of EFL learners’ at Hamzanwadi university of English department in sixth semester. The total sampling in this study as 22 samples. Personality types determined by using questionnaire of Eysenck (1991) modified by Jamie Davies (2004). Self- confidence determined also using questionnaire adapted from Finch (2004). Meanwhile speaking was scored by oral test. This study was quantitative research with correlational design. The result of personality types, self-confidence and speaking proficiency was counted by t-tailed SPSS 22. The result of this study revealed that there was no impact of personality types and speaking proficiency (0.846 > 0.05) also there was no impact between self-confidence and speaking proficiency (0.99 > 0.05), and the last was found that there was no correlation among personality types, self-confidence and speaking proficiency because F observed < F table (1.52 < 3.49).
