Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of digital storytelling in teaching speaking in eleventh graders of SMAN 01 Pringgasela in the academic year 2023-2024. The pre-experimental design used one group pre�test and post-test used in this study. The sample of this research was eleventh grade students consisting of 30 students. Data were collected from students’ pre�test and post-test using oral tests. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 22 for windows. After processing the data into the paired sample t-test, it was found that there was a significant difference in the mean scores between the pre-test and post-test, t(59)= 89.88 at P=0.00 which means the alternative hypothesis is accepted and the null hypothesis rejected. Thus the use of digital storytelling for teaching speaking in eleventh grade social studies at SMAN 01 Pringgasela for the academic year 2023-2024. Considering the process and results of this study, the researcher suggests that English teachers use this media in teaching speaking skill. Key Words: Digital storytelling, speaking
