Abstract
The purpose of this study was to find out the effectiveness of procedural content video in guiding students to write procedure text at the eleventh grade of SMK NW Renco in the academic year 2020-2021. Pre-experimental design using one group pre-test and post-test was used in this study. The sample of this study was the eleventh grade students which consisted of 23 students. The data were collected from students’ pre-test and post-test by using written test. The data were analyzed by using SPSS version 22 for Windows. After submitting the data to a paired sample t-test, it was found that there was a significant difference in the mean score between the pre-test and the post-test, t(df=22)= -13.317 at p=0.000 which meant that the alternative hypothesis was accepted and the null hypothesis was rejected. Thus, procedural content video media was significantly effective in guiding students to write procedure text at the eleventh grade of SMK NW Renco in the academic year 2020-2021. Considering the process and result of this study, the present researcher suggested that the English teachers use this media in teaching writing. Key words: procedural content video, writing ability
