Abstract

Comalasari, Afriliya. 2022. Students’ Internal Factors Listening Anxiety in the 11th Grade Students of SMK Al-Amin Kilang. Undergraduate Thesis. Study Program of English Language Education. Faculty of Language, Art, Humanities. Hamzanwadi University. Advisors: (1) M. Adib Nazri, M.Pd., and (2) Ary Prasetyaningrum, M.Pd. This study aims to find the level of students' listening anxiety, find the types of students' listening anxiety and find the causes of students' listening anxiety. This research used mixed methods, namely a combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods. The population of this study was all students of class XI SMK Al Amin Kilang totaling 70 students, while the samples taken from this study were from class XI A, amounting to 20 students. Data were collected through listening tests, questionnaires, and interviews. The results showed that from the listening test it was found that the students' listening anxiety level was 60% high, 30% moderate, and 10% low. The results of the questionnaire show that the type of student anxiety is included in state anxiety, which is a temporary emotional reaction that arises in certain situations. The results of the interview found that the factors causing anxiety in listening included students not being able to catch well what native speakers said, limited time in answering questions, and low mastery of vocabulary in English.
