Abstract
The purpose of this study was to find out the effectiveness of Book Talk in learning students reading at 8th grade students’ of SMP IT Pancor Kopong. Pre experimental design using one group pre-test and post-test was used in this study. The sample of this study was the VII class which is consisted of 15 students. The data were collected from students’ pre-test and post-test by using an essay test. The data were analyzed by using SPSS version 22 for Windows. After submitting the data to a paired sample t-test, it was found that there was a significant difference in the mean score between the pre-test and the post-test, t(df=14) = 8.101 at p=0.000 which meant that the alternative hypothesis was accepted and the null hypothesis was rejected. Thus, Book Talk media was significantly effective in teaching students reading at 8th grade students’ of SMP IT Pancor Kopong. Considering the process and result of this study, the present researcher suggested that the English teachers use this media in teaching Reading. Key words: Book Talk, Reading Skill
