Abstract
This study examined the effectiveness of AI ChatGPT in enhancing writing skills among Indonesian EFL learners at MA NWDI Tembeng Putik. A qualitative case study was conducted involving 30 senior high school students. Data were collected through questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. The results revealed three key findings: (1) 60% of participants reported significant improvement in grammar accuracy, (2) 63% demonstrated enhanced coherence in essay organization, and (3) 66% utilized ChatGPT for autonomous revision. However, only 46% felt increased writing confidence, indicating a need for psychological support in AI-assisted learning. These findings suggest that ChatGPT serves as a valuable supplementary tool for EFL writing instruction, particularly in resource-limited classrooms. The study recommends teacher-guided implementation to balance AI benefits with critical thinking development.
