Abstract

This study aimed at examining the effectiveness of puppet show technique in teaching speaking skill. Two statements of problem were formulated: (1) Is Puppet Show technique effective in teaching speaking skill? (2)To what extent is the effectiveness of Puppet Show technique in teaching speaking skill? The design of this research was pre-experimental. The population was the tenth graders and the sample of the study which consisted of 13 students. The instrument of this research was oral test. To analyze the alternative hypothesis, the data were analyzed using a paired sample t-test and One-Way Annova to look for homogeneity. The mean score of pre-test was 40.00 and the mean score of post-test was 71.38. In testing hypothesis, it was found that t = 20.13 p = 0.000. It is concluded that Puppet Show Technique was effective in teaching speaking for the tenth graders of MA NW Perian in school year 2019-2020. Key Words: puppet show, speaking skill
