Abstract
This research aims to identify: (1) teacher’s strategies in teaching speaking skills at the eighth grader of MTs NW Lepak in academic year 2019/2020; and (2) students’ perception towards teacher’s strategies in teaching of speaking skills at the eighth grader of MTs. NW Lepak in academic year 2019/2020. The participants of the research were English teacher and the eighth graders of MTs. NW Lepak in academic year 2019/2020. The techniques of collecting data were observation and interview. The result of the research were (1) the teaching strategies used by the teacher in teaching speaking skill at eighth grader of MTs. NW Lepak in academic year 2019/2020 were discussion and Story telling and (2) Students’ perception towards teacher’s strategies in teaching speaking skills at eighth grader of MTs. NW Lepak in academic year 2019/2020 were being enthusiastic to be taught with discussion and being less enthusiastic to be taught with Story telling. Keywords: Teacher Strategies, Students’Perception
