Abstract
This study was attempt to know the effectiveness of using song liric for teaching vocabulary of verb under the considerations of SMPN 2 PRAYA TIMUR that many students found difficulties in understanding English vocabulary. The subject of the research was 111 students of B class at eighth graders of SMPN 2 PRAYA TIMUR in the school year 2017-2018. To gain the data, pre-experimental research was used by given the students pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The pretest instrument was given first to the students. The treatment used was song lyric that given in three meetings. The post-test was conducted after the treatment given to the students. The collected data was submitted to a paired sample t-test by using SPSS 17. The result showed that the mean score of pre-test was 16.16 that’s higher between the post-test that was 18.56, there was a significant difference in the mean score between pre-test and post-test, t(df=31) = 5.184 at p = 0.001 meaning that the null hypothesis was rejected and alternative hypothesis was accepted. In conclusion, song lyric was significantly effective and English teachers should use song lyric for teaching to improve students vocabulary.
