Abstract

This study aimed at examining the effectiveness of Scrambled Pictures in teaching writing procedure texts for the eighth graders at MTs. Nurul Yaqin NW Bual in the school year 2017 – 2018. The population was all of the eighth graders which consisted of two classes (A class and B class), while the sample was B Class which consisted of 17 students. The design of this study was pre-experimental research design and the instrument was subjective test in form of writing procedure texts by using Scrambled Pictures media. In collecting the data, the pre-test and post-test was given to the students. Based on the result of study the mean score of pre-test was 46.59 while in post-test was 72.24 meaning that the mean scores of post-test was higher than pre-test. Meanwhile in hypothesis testing by using Paired-Sample t-test, the present researcher found that there was a significant difference in the mean scores between the pre-test and post test, t(df=16) = 24.89 at p=.00, meaning that the Scrambled Pictures media was significantly effective in teaching writing procedure texts.
