Abstract

This research objective is to findout “the effectiveness of PQ4R to teach reading for tenth grade students of MA NW Terara in the school year 2017-2018. This research design was one group pre-test and post-test. The population of this research was class PIS and MIA which consisted of 53 students. The present researcher took class MIA as the sample that consisted of 24 students. In collecting the data, the present researcher used pre-test and a post-test to the students. The result of the data analysis indicated that the mean score of the pre-test was 35.67 while in the post-test was 50.67. In testing hypothesis the present researcher used Paired Sample t-test and total score 11.145 at p = 0.000. In normality testing the present researcher used Shapiro-Wilk, total score of pre-test was 0.087 and post-test was 0.136. The result of homogeneity testing was 00.478. In this case, present researcher used One-Way Annova to look for the homogeneity testing. So null hypothesis was rejected and alternative hypothesis was accepted. Based on the data above, it can be concluded that wheel conversation game was significantly effective in teaching speaking at the tenth graders of MA. MA NW Terara in the academic year 2017-2018.
