Abstract

This study aims to describe the style of comparative language contained in the novel Mangir by Pramordya Ananta Toer. The beckground of this research is that in the novel Mangir uses a lot of language that is comparing sentences with one another, the novel Mangir is not a novel that contains a narrative and a serial description but a book about historical drama. The type of research used is qualitative description research. The data collection technique in research using literature study technique, observation and recording. Data analysis techniques are carried out by identifying data, data reduction, classification, interpretation, and data retrieval. The results of this study indicate that, the style of comparative language in the novel Mangir there are five styles of comparative language including: parables, metaphors, personification, pleonasms, and anticipation or prolepsis.
