Abstract

The purpose of this development research is to produce mathematics teaching materials for teachers and students who are learning and teaching in class V. The teaching material in question is in the form of teaching materials (modules) that use story questions to measure students' mathematical problem solving abilities. The teaching materials developed meet the valid and effective criteria. This type of research is research and development (R&D). Research and development methods are research methods used to produce certain products and test the effectiveness of these products. This type of research is different from other educational research because the goal is to develop a product based on trials and then revise it to produce a product that is suitable for use. The development model used in this research is the 4-D model (four-D). The results achieved from this study were the quality of the developed module was suitable for use by teachers and students of SDN class V. The quality of this module was rated by several experts, material experts at 3.55, the media aspect got an average of 3.76 and validation. the material from the class teacher gets an average of 3.55 so that this module is suitable for use in the learning process. In addition, through this teaching material, students become more familiar with fraction material and are able to solve any given mathematical problem. From this research, it was found that the average gain value of students' learning abilities was 0.6 which had a moderate criteria. Thus the development of teaching materials for mathematics learning modules can improve students' mathematical problem solving abilities.
