Abstract
Abstract: The teaching profession is not a form of neglection from some other professions that are considered more attractive and lucrative. Being a teacher is required for competence in their respective fields. This proves that the action taken must be professional teachers in their profession. Further development and improvement of teachers' academic status is a moral obligation of teachers themselves in accordance with the expectations of the people who have given recognition in the kinds of socio-economic status and noble responsibility. Professionalism should be in synergy with the national education policy that mentions four ccompetencies required of a teacher namely: pedagogical competence, personal competence, social competence, and professional competence. Therefore, teachers must have a great responsibility to improve the quality of nation education. Status of teachers who have girded would require other competencies releated to the image of a teacher. This paper will present various concepts of urgency professionalism of teachers in improving the quality of education and various things involved. Keywords: Professionalism, Teacher, Education
