Abstract

The enactment of the 2013 curriculum has directed training that trains students to think at higher levels. Higher order thinking skills or known as HOTS need to be instilled and developed from an early age. HOTS is a curricular and future record to prepare the nation's next generation. Students on enrichment program who have completed the subject matter faster and have more abilities, need a teaching material that is self-teaching, independent that is suitable for their respective learning speeds and is independent. The Enrichment Module is the right solution to meet their learning needs so that it is expected to have an impact on increasing learning and increasing learning outcomes. The teacher as an important component in learning is required to facilitate those learning needs. The development of teaching materials in the form of enrichment modules is one realization of the implementation of teacher professional duties. This research and development aims to produce an enrichment module based on high level thinking skills for grade 5 elementary school students on practical Indonesian language content that can be used to meet the needs of teachers and fast learners who have proven their strength. This research and development (Research & Development / R&D) uses 9 stages of Borg and Garll (1983), namely research and information gathering until the final product revision. This module has also been validated by 2 expert validators who show that 100% of the products developed have correctly demonstrated the accuracy of content, accuracy of content coverage, digestibility, use of language, characterization, illustrations, completeness of components and evaluation so that the enrichment module is based on high level thinking skills. and the feasibility test of an expert validator can be declared very suitable for use on a wide scale by grade 5 elementary school. The effectiveness test also shows that the average learning outcome of students reaches 71.09 or qualitatively is “B”, while the classical learning completeness rate reaches 80%. The practicality test of the student responses shows that the average proportion of 94.23% is valid and the teacher's response shows 88.25% is valid, so that the mean of the two groups of respondents is 91.24% in the very practical category. The teacher's response also shows that 100% strongly agree that the enrichment module helps teachers implement enrichment programs in schools and the Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) based enrichment module can train and develop thinking habits and higher order thinking skills in grade 5 elementary school.
