Abstract

This study aimed to determine the description of collaboration between teachers and conselors in pre reading ability or broken home students. This research was conducted at SD Negeri 1 Teros, Labuhan Haji District, East Lombok Regency. The subjects were 2 broken home students who were in grade II. The two subjects of this study did not yet have the ability to read at the beginning. The reading ability of the two students were below the minimum completeness criteria. The approach used in this research was adescriptive qualitative approach with case study handling procedures. The stages of implementing the action in this study included five stages, namely identification of case, identification of problems, diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment. Data collection techniques in this study used direct observation , interviews, and documentation. Data alaysis used several steps, namely data collection, data improvement, data processing, data analysis, and conclusions and research results. Based on the research that has been done, the result were : 1) the pre reading ability for broken home students has increased, this can be seen from the increasing ability of reading and got better grade, 2) the implementation of counseling services could change students' negative behavior, 3) the efforts made by class teachers and counselors in improving students' pre-reading abilities were to fost their learning motivation, their self-confidence, their responsibility in doing assignments, providing services that make them enthusias for learning, and make them dicipline.
