Abstract
Water is an environmental component that has an important role in life. Water quality can be determined from several parameters, including the content of metal and non-metal compounds such as fluoride ion (F-) and sulfate ion (SO42-). If the levels of these compounds exceed the quality standard values, they can cause pollution and serious health problems. This research aims to qualitatively and quantitatively analyze the content of fluoride and sulfate ions in Dutch heritage springs in Tirtanadi Village, Labuhan Haji District. Qualitative test for Fluoride was conducted by the color change reaction method and qualitative test for Sulfate by using the precipitation reaction method. As well as quantitative tests of the two ions by using the UV-Vis spectrophotometry method. The regression equation was obtained from the two calibration curves, the first was the standard fluoride ion curve, namely y = 0.2418x – 0.019 with an R2 value of 0.9929. Next, the second is the standard sulfate ion curve where y = 0.0187x + 0.1568 with an R2 value of 0.9843. Based on the research carried out, it can be concluded that all the water samples studied on average were still below the threshold, namely for the highest Fluoride content with a value of 1.411 ppm and the highest Sulphate content with a value of 17.11 ppm. In light of these facts, the Fluoride and Sulphate parameters are in accordance with the Republic of Indonesia Minister of Health's regulation No.492/Menkes/Per/IX/2010 indicating the water at the spring in Tirtanadi village comply the requirements for drinking water quality that is suitable for consumption.
