Abstract
The purpose of this study was to find out the responses and perceptions of students towards the use of the Duolingo application as an English vocabulary learning tool. This study used qualitative methods with the process of collecting data by means of observation and interviews. Interviews were conducted with six students who had used Duolingo at the SMK level and were interviewed. The results of the study, researchers found that the use of Duolingo media gave a positive response among students. Researchers found three themes that emerged related to the use of Duolingo. Namely: (1) Providing Interesting Features in Learning English Vocabulary, (2) Providing a level of independence and freedom of learning for students to learn various vocabularies from various languages, and (3) Providing motivation and encouragement to get to know more new vocabulary in English . It can be concluded that Duolingo can have a positive effect on Duoling application users, besides that students get motivation and encouragement that make students more interested in learning English.
