Abstract
The focus of this study research was to find out the outdoor teaching method is effective or not to increase speaking ability senior high school student. This study used qualitative and quantitative method. The sample on the study were 15 student in eleventh grade student in senior high school. Researcher used test and interview to obtain the data. The test using pre-test and post-test design, the result of the test showed that pre-test was 61.00, and the post-test was 67.00. The lowest score of pre-test was 45, and the highest score was 85. While the lowest score on post-test was 50, and the highest score was 95, the standard deviation of the post-test was 15.329. The mean score of the pre-test was lower than the post-test. These results proved that the Outdoor Teaching Method was significantly effective in improve students’ speaking ability. The challenges faced by the researcher used outdoor teaching method is limited time in the research, if the time much longer so the result of the research would be more significant. As for the outdoor teaching method that is applies, the faces challenges related to student focus. Keywords: Outdoor, teaching, methods, speaking, ability.
